Dolphins and Browns make Big Splash
The Miami Dolphins & Cleveland Browns not messing around:
1st day moves 2013 Free Agency and the season in underway. The Cleveland Browns bolstered their defense for defensive coordinator Ray Horton & Head Coach Rob Chudzinski. They signed Paul Kruger OLB to a rported $40 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. The Miami Dolphins spent big in obtaining WR Mike Wallace from the Steelers and LB Dannell Ellerbe from the Ravens. The Browns hit it big with Kruger. He knows the offensive tackles in the division and will be a great fit in Ray Horton” 3-4 scheme. The Dolphins on the other hand spent big on the speedy WR Wallace who held out of the Steelers camp last year. I do not believe you can invest the kind of money into a small WR and expect to make the strides as a football team needed to be made. Wallace can run the top off of coverage but is he durable, will he help in the run game? I am not sure, it is just a ton on money to invest into the WR position for this guy. He is no Larry Fitzgerald, I do not like it. Also, in Ellerbe they get a young LB with 13 career starts. Yes, Ellerbe was highly touted as Ray Lewis replacement in Baltimore, but his history is spotty, having left Oakland after a 1 year contract. Again, a ton of money into a young guy with limited starting experience in the NFL. They let go of an All-Pro offensive lineman Jake Long and Reggie Bush and pick up these two guys. Also, the Bills will have a new QB in 2013 as new head coach Doug Marrone released Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick was due a $3 million bonus today.
