NFL Free Agency 2013

NFL Free Agency 2013 Begins Today:

Veterans; some stay at home and some move on:

Gonzalez returns for 17th season:

Tony Gonzalez has made the Atlanta Falcons fans smile today.  Matt Ryan is also smiling as is Head Coach Mike Smith and OC Dirk Koetter.  Gonzalez has decided to return to the Falcons for his 17th season.  Gonzalez will be a 1st ballot hall of fame inductee no question.  He lacked a playoff win until 2012.  The Falcons advanced to the NFC title game only to loose after leading by 17 points.  The receiving core is intact with Julio Jones and Roddy White.  They need a RB with Michael Turner aging and moving on.  Steven Jackson the rams free agent Rb would be a great fit.  Today is the day.  The Falcons also need a pass rush DE to replace John Abraham.

Alex Smith to the Chiefs; Andy Reid has QB:

The Chiefs will get their QB today, Alex Smith the former 1st pick in the draft will get his opportunity to work with QB guru Andy Reid.  The Chiefs have 6 Pro-Bowlers that return and are a quality QB away from being competitive.  They have their guy and the Chiefs are relevant again in the AFC west.  In the last 2 seasons Smith threw 30 touchdown passes with only 10 interceptions.  The Chiefs have the RB in Charles and the big WR in Bowe.  The defense is sound.  Lookout Peyton Manning.  The Chiefs will be a much different team in 2013.

Anquan Boldin to the 49er’s

Boldin will not be a Raven.  Joe Flacco signs his big contract and looses his go to guy.  Boldin is the toughest WR in the NFL.  He is a true throwback player with modern day talent.  The 49er’s already are one of the toughest, meanest teams in the league.  The addition of Boldin is a great free agent signing.  Boldin’s work ethic will be a great influence on Crabtree, Davis and Kaepernick.  Little Brother Jim raids the cupboard of big brother John.

David Garrad to the Jets:

David Garrard signing with the Jets today is another great free agent signing.  Garrard is a veteran guy, a proven winner and just an around good QB.  He is just what Rex Ryan needs.  He is a leader and in a locker room that resembles “animal house”, he will provide stability, personality and much needed leadership.  The Jets will say good-bye to Tim Tebow and for Mark Sanchez his ticket is punched.  The Jets are in the hunt with Garrard.

Percy Harvin to the Seahawks:

Percy Harvin leaves the Vikings to head west.  Adrian Peterson is speechless and Russel Wilson screams out, “YES!”  Harvin, the former Florida Gator star deserves much of the credit that went to Urban Meyer and to Tim Tebow.  He is a nightmare match up for defenses.  Ask Brett Favre about his short stint in Minnesota and he will tell you that Percy Harvin is one of the best all around football players in the NFL.  He can fill the slot WR role, 3rd down RB and is tough enough to handle carrying the football in the running game when AP needs a blow.  The Seahawks have hit it big with Harvin as long as he can pass the physical.  He has had chronic headache problems the past few years.  Pete Carroll and the Seahawks add an offensive monster and with the young gun at QB and the stout defense, the 49ers better look out in the NFC West.

 Where will they end up!
