Individual Position Specific 6-Point Evaluation: (we will use the 4 levels of skill rating for each of the position specific skill sets.)

*Arm Strength

Colt demonstrates High Level velocity and spin, High Level transfer and foot placement at set up (very good catch and throw quick game throws and medium range throws. Deeper throws needs polishing), Adequate Level arm strength.

*Quick Release

Colt displays High Level ability to get the ball out of hands quickly, High Level tight release, High Level minimal wasted throwing motions on short, quick and intermediate range throws. Deeper throws mechanics and transfer break down a little.  This will change with increased arm strength as well as core development.

*Accuracy and Ball Placement

Colt demonstrates High Level display of throwing WR’s open, Developmental Level display of throws deep outside the #’s, Adequate Level display of throws to seam, High Level display checking to 2nd/3rd option, High Level display to windows in zone!

*Avoid Rush / Instincts & Vision

Colt demonstrates High Level display of run instincts and escape ability, High Level display of pocket instincts feeling the rush, High Level moving in the pocket aiding OL pass protectors, High Level locating throwing windows, and High Level athletic ability and instincts extending play putting pressure on Defense.

*Set Up Quickness

Colt demonstrates High Level center / QB exchange, High Level catch-arm & set, Developmental Level  posture for RPO’s, and High Level feet and transfer – (shorter quick throws, polishing on deeper set ups and deeper throws.)

*Production in Key Situations

Colt demonstrates High Level display of leadership, High Level difference maker and a creator of plays, High Level command of the Huddle, High Level demonstration of moving the sticks on 3rd down, and High Level competitive edge.

Summary of Colts’s early Progress:

*Strengths include – Instincts, Quick set-up, decisions and release on short and intermediates routes. Very impressive extending the play outside the pocket as well as fundamentals of hips and shoulders on the run in proper position for delivery outside the pocket.

*Criteria of developmental focus – Core strength development as well as arm strength development for deeper throws and polishing of mechanics on deeper throws eliminating a dip and small wind up for increased distance.

*Moving Forward – Reps, skill & instruction this Summer. 7 on 7’s, camps important as long as priority is Colt’s getting great rep count at camp. Not interested in big name camp with cattle call numbers and lots of standing. Anytime Colt can gather receivers and throw important.
