QB Specific Evaluation Criteria:

*Athletes Competitive edge: Russ displays high level QB mechanics, release and ball placement. He is sharp throwing WR open to a spot open in the Zone. He is tough, stands in the pocket and will create a play for his team. 

*Football IQ: Russ demonstrates mature skill set as well as understanding of timing, coverage and the ability to throw open his WR. He is also confident in that he will give his WR’s a chance to make a play in 1 on 1 opportunities.

Russ demonstrates High Level quick and decisive decisions, High Level  body language & non-verbal posture, High Level command of the Offense, High Level demonstration of Identifying Coverage and High Level ability to get the Offense out of a bad play and into a good play.

*Poise Under Duress

Russ demonstrates High Level display of poise in the pocket, High Level  patience and a sense for extending the play keeping eyes downfield, High Level ability to locate the open throwing lane, High Level demonstration of knowing where check down is located, and High Level ability to know when to get rid of the ball and live to fight another day.

*Setup/Footwork

Russ displays High Level posture, cradling of the ball in the “Tuck”,  High Level sprint out mechanics and athletic ability, High Level posture, mobility and body movements during play action, and Adequate Level  lower body passing mechanics with feet, gather and transfer to front foot and hips at target, maintaining high delivery point.

*Release

Russ displays High Level  grip and ability to get the ball out of hands quickly, High Level tight release, High Level minimal wasted throwing motions, High Level catch-arm & set from Gun, and High Level ability demonstrating consistent release point of ball adjusting wrist velocity to touch of throw.

*Arm Strength

Russ demonstrates High Level velocity and spin, High Level transfer and foot placement at set up, High Level hips at release to the target, High Level ability to control wrist at release point adjusting velocity, Adequate Level ability to delivery the deep ball from the hash to the field numbers with velocity and accuracyand Adequate Level vertical distance arm strength.

Summary

*Strengths includeRuss presents an advanced skill set for his age and is very mature. He is exceptional in the pocket, smooth, confident and demonstrates the ability to work through progressions. Great upside and high ceiling.   

*Criteria of developmental focus – Focus on core strength and explosive speed – Work on the deep out at the numbers to the field and the vertical throw outside the numbers keeping release and mechanics consistent. 

*Moving Forward – Skill and instruction, combined with exposure at camps. Important to let genetic progress take its course and let recruiting take care of itself at this early stage. Improvement on fundamentals are the most important.
